Job DescriptionThe School of Social Work's Business Office is looking for an eager, self-starting, and motivated Administrative Coordinator to join its diverse and robust team. The Administrative Coordinator will provide daily support for financial, procurement, and for administrative divisions within the School of Social Work. This position provides reviews of financial documents and reports, including procurement and financial budgeting, coordinates unit budgets, and adheres to policy documents including standard operation procedures, presentations, and other procedural information. This position offers a partial telework schedule.

UMB is a public university and constituent institution of the University System of Maryland. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.
Primary Duties:
- Perform daily administrative duties related to financial operations, procurement, purchase orders, and financial budgeting.
- Identify and assist in the development of future business process changes.
- Ensure effective use of resources within department. May supervise support staff.
- Review line by line analysis of financial reports for accuracy and variances. Identify inconsistencies and errors, and resolve or escalate them as needed.
- Conduct research, gather data, and prepare various financial reports for management.
- Support purchasing and travel management for departments, including procurement card purchases, initiating purchase requisitions, and processing travel reimbursements.
- Determine client needs and coordinate with procurement on methodology and research markets for bidding.
- Prepare travel journal entries and review travel requests and expenditures.
- Perform accounts receivable and payable activities in accordance with Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP), ensuring unit budget is balanced.
- Serve as a liaison between unit and Office of the Controller, Office of Financial Aid, and Strategic Sourcing and Acquisition Services, and partner with them on campus-wide initiatives. Respond to inquiries with accurate and policy supported information. Contact appropriate resources when unable to find factual support for answers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, finance, accounting, human resources, or other related field.
Experience: Two (2) years of related experience in use and analysis of financial, administrative, procurement, or human resources management.
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.

- Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts.

Hiring Range: $55,000 - $61,000, commensurate with education and experience.
