Position Title: Assistant Office Engineer
About the Position
Were seeking an Assistant Office Engineer to support large-scale heavy-civil construction projects, including highways, roads, bridges, transit (both rail and bus), and airport projects delivered through both traditional and alternative methods. This position is ideal for a recent graduate from a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree major.
Your primary focus is to keep the office running smoothly: coordinate meetings, handle correspondence, and support both staff and visitors. Youll also assist with maintaining organized records, tracking supplies, and helping ensure the office environment supports project success. At the core, youll be the point person for keeping the team running smoothly behind the scenes. This position is designed to take someone who has some administrative experience and grow them into an experienced Office Engineer. The Office Engineer role is often a foot in the door to other roles in various firms, like Civil Engineers. You'll be interacting with Engineers and other project team members on a daily basis as you execute the duties and responsibilities of this role.
This is a long term, full-time, on-site position located in Baltimore, MD.
Responsibilities
- Furnishes information and responds to routine correspondence when necessary.
- Coordinates the receipt, distribution, and delivery of mail both to and from the office.
- Gathers and summarizes a variety of data from multiple sources, and compile into reports
- Organizes and maintains office files (electronic and hardcopy) and records in accordance with project retention policy and procedures.
- Tracks and coordinates the acquisition and distribution of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintains inventory of furniture and equipment.
- Works with the Office Manager, assisting with office moves and coordinating with facilities on building maintenance issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Project Management Team.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 2+ years' experience in an administrative role.
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to compose, proofread, and edit written documents, such as routine letters, business correspondence, and reports of varying complexity.
- Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Maryland law.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- 2+ years' experience in an administrative role on a large heavy-civil construction project, preferably in the transit sector.
- Familiarity with construction terminology, safety protocols, and project phases.
Compensation Details
The salary range listed for this role is $41k-$52k/year ($20-$25/hour), plus $.70/mile if commute is over 10 miles, one-way. The final salary offered will be based on multiple factors and thoughtfully aligned with each candidates level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, geographic location, etc.
