- Superintendent of New Hampshire School Administrative Unit 30
Description
Laconia, New Hampshire, is more than a city; it’s a community that comes together.
Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Lakes Region, Laconia blends the warmth of a small town with the energy and opportunity of a vibrant city. Here, people look out for one another. Families, schools, and local businesses form strong partnerships that make Laconia a truly connected and caring place to live, learn, and grow.
Steeped in history and established in 1893, Laconia began as a key trade route between Portsmouth and Canada and became an early manufacturing center. Today, it stands not only as a tourism destination but as a thriving hub of innovation, creativity, and community spirit, a place that honors its roots while looking confidently toward the future.
Laconia offers the best of New England living. Surrounded by sparkling lakes and rolling mountains, residents enjoy an abundance of year-round recreational opportunities: boating, fishing, hiking, and swimming in the nearby lakes, as well as skiing and snowshoeing in the surrounding mountains. Laconia enjoys five local beaches (one right next to the middle school), numerous parks and playgrounds, and a wide variety of family-centered activities.
The community center and library are alive with events and programs for all ages. The historic Lakeport Opera House, Colonial Theatre, and local arts organizations showcase an active arts and culture scene. City traditions, celebrations, and festivals such as Laconia Pumpkin Festival, Multicultural Day, Downtown Block Parties, and Lakes Region Earth Day, including the world-famous Laconia Motorcycle Week, the oldest bike rally in the U.S., bring people together and build lasting pride.
The Laconia School District serves as the heart of the community’s commitment to its future. With three elementary schools, preschool opportunities, a middle school, a high school, and the Huot Career and Technical Center, the district provides an exceptional and comprehensive education for all learners, from early childhood through adulthood.
Our schools, guided by an engaged and supportive School Board, a shared Strategic Plan, and an active Portrait of a Graduate, ensure a clear focus on academic growth, equity, and future-ready learning. Students are encouraged to explore, innovate, and excel through:
Rigorous academics and personalized learning pathways
- State-of-the-art facilities, including new playgrounds and a modern stadium
- Career-based learning experiences at the Huot Career and Technical Center
- Strong arts, music, and theater programs that enrich the whole child
- Robotics, STEM, and extended learning opportunities beyond the classroom
- Adult Education programs that support lifelong learning
The district is home to talented educators and a highly effective administrative team who work collaboratively to ensure every student reaches their full potential. Together, they foster a culture of support, belonging, and continuous improvement that reflects the heart of the Laconia community.
School pride runs deep in Laconia. From spirited community events to championship games at the new modern stadium, you can feel the energy that connects students, families, and neighbors. The district’s partnerships with local organizations and businesses provide real-world learning experiences that prepare students for success in college, career, and life.
In Laconia, education doesn’t stop at the classroom door; it’s lived in the relationships that make this community strong. Safe, family-oriented, and full of opportunity, Laconia is a wonderful place to call home.
The next Superintendent of the Laconia School District will find a community that believes deeply in its schools and a district poised for continued growth and innovation. With a strong foundation, engaged families, and a clear vision for the future, Laconia offers an extraordinary opportunity to lead in a place where education truly matters.
Here, the schools are the heart of the city. And the heart of the city is ready to welcome its next great leader.
