- AHN Administrative Fellowship
Description
The Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Administrative Fellowship is a two-year executive training program designed to develop future healthcare leaders through immersive, hands-on experience within a large, integrated health system. The fellowship provides broad exposure across AHN’s 14-hospital network and enterprise functions, preparing fellows for long-term leadership roles in complex healthcare organizations. Year one is rotational and includes work in hospital and ambulatory operations, strategy, finance, population health, and system-wide initiatives. The experience emphasizes real-world problem solving, with fellows leading and contributing to high-impact projects aligned with organizational priorities. The second year of the AHN Administrative Fellowship is a mentored leadership role with an emphasis on gaining direct line management experience. A core strength of the program is direct engagement with senior and executive leaders. Fellows attend and facilitate leadership meetings, receive structured mentorship, and gain exposure to executive decision-making. The program also focuses on process improvement and operational excellence, with fellows identifying and implementing measurable initiatives that improve performance and patient experience. As the provider arm of Highmark Health, a national blended payer–provider organization, AHN offers fellows a unique opportunity to learn within an integrated care delivery and population health model—an increasingly critical structure in modern healthcare leadership. The fellowship is intended for graduates of MHA, MHSA, MBA, MPH, and related master’s programs who are seeking accelerated development, enterprise-level exposure, and a pathway into healthcare leadership roles within AHN’s large, mission-driven health system.
