Description
A Legal Assistant provides support to lawyers and legal teams by performing administrative and clerical tasks, conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, and ensuring the efficient operation of legal offices. They play a critical role in helping attorneys prepare for meetings, hearings, trials, and corporate processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Document Preparation & Management:
Draft and format legal documents such as pleadings, motions, subpoenas, contracts, and discovery materials.
Proofread and edit documents for grammar, accuracy, and legal compliance.
File legal documents with courts or relevant agencies (electronically or in person).
Case Support:
Organize and maintain case files, correspondence, and legal records.
Manage calendars, schedule court dates, depositions, and meetings.
Client Interaction:
Communicate with clients to schedule appointments and provide updates.
Prepare client intake forms and handle confidential information with discretion.
Administrative Duties:
Perform general office tasks including answering phones, taking messages, and managing mail.
Maintain timekeeping and billing records.
