Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring ND or compact RN licensure and current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications.
Details
- Work in the ICU of an acute care Critical Access Hospital (CAH) setting
- 4-bed ICU unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2-3 depending on acuity
- Common diagnoses include DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac rate and rhythm control, medical detox, and patients with arterial lines and CVP monitoring
- RNs are required to titrate drips typical to an ICU setting
- No dedicated charge nurse on shift; ER provides charge coverage for ICU
- No nurse aides or patient care techs on this unit
- RT equipment used ranges from nasal cannula to ventilator, with RNs troubleshooting as needed
- RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips
- Uses MEDITECH EMR system
- 12-hour night shifts on a 7am-7pm schedule pattern, with scheduling managed by the director
- Weekend and holiday coverage required as needed
- Floating required to MS or ER units for 1:1 assignments, with travelers first to float
- Navy scrub color required
- 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
Requirements
- Active ND state or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
- TNCC, TCAR, or equivalent trauma patient care experience required
- BSN not required for this position
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test; facial hair may impact ability to pass and could affect contract eligibility
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct ICU nursing care including drip titration and telemetry monitoring for critically ill patients
- Success in this unit requires coachability, motivation, strong teamwork, and the ability to recognize and coach unsafe situations
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront for the 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
